6. Adjust coefficients if needed: The tool includes a 
cylinder coefficient (default 0.67, modeling pits as semi-
spheres) and a correlation coefficient (default 0.9, per 
SSC-394).
7. Run the calculation: Results are returned within 
minutes. Users can email results to themselves for 
documentation.
A built-in inches-to-millimeters converter is included for 
operators whose instruments read in imperial units.
The tool provides a defensible, data-backed assessment of 
remaining plate thickness—the same methodology that un-
derpins SSC-394 and the original Coast Guard PIT program.
