1. Mark a sample area: Per SSC-394, identify a 300mm × 
300mm (12” × 12”) section of the pitted panel that visu-
ally represents the full panel in terms of pitting intensity, 
depth, and diameter.
2. Count pits: Enter the total number of pits within the 
marked area (Frequency).
3. Measure depths: Record the average pit depth and the 
maximum pit depth within the sample, in millimeters.
4. Measure diameters: Record the average pit diameter 
and the maximum pit diameter.
5. Enter plate dimensions: Input plate width, height, and 
original thickness.
