30 FOGHORN THE IMPORTANCE OF PARTNERSHIP Choosing partners carefully is critical. Hybrid ferry proj- ects are long, complex efforts that depend on collaboration. No single entity has all the answers, so success ultimately comes down to how effectively all the stakeholders can work together. When selecting their partners, operators need to look beyond just price and technical capability; track record, communication style, and strategic align- ment are other factors that can help determine who will be a good fit for a project. Challenges are inevitable, but an integrated team built on a foundation of trust and shared objectives will be well equipped to take them on. PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE While hybrid ferry projects typically focus on immediate operational needs, it is essential to consider the future of the fleet and any related infrastructure. If an incremental hybrid approach is necessary due to technology, infra- structure, or budgetary constraints, the system should be architected in a way that supports future expansion / mod- FOGHORN FOCUS Future-proofing should also consider the rest of the fleet.
