The Commodore Class is the highest passenger capacity USCG K-class high speed ferry in the United States. w w w . We call this program “10 Boats – 10 Weeks.” The idea is that every vessel in the fleet gets a full week of focused attention from the crew. This can be anything from chipping rust and painting to changing out tired windows or carpet. We employ about 20 crewmembers full-time for 10 weeks from early January through March 15. Our captains are earning their standard captain wage while our unlicensed crew earn a higher maintenance wage than they would otherwise. What sets us apart from many of the other operators that utilize their own crew for off-season maintenance is the amount of training that we invest and the formality of the program. Our crew involved in the program know they can count on full-time hours during the first quarter of the year. Every year, we begin with an all-day OSHA training class taught by our in-house Competent Shipyard Worker-certified crew.
