Increased Inventory Availability W e can all agree we are in the age of information tech- nology and operational technology. Cybersecurity and cyber risk management are the operational domain presenting modern safety and security challenges for both the U. S. Coast Guard (USCG) and maritime industry. With so much diversity in passenger vessel industry operations, operators must determine their critical cyber systems and how to implement appropriate cyber risk management to those systems. The USCG is actively developing resources to assist the maritime industry with cyber risk man- agement strategies. T h e U S C G C y b e r S t r a t e g y was signed in June of 2015. The Strategy identified three strategic priorities: Defending Cyberspace, E n a b l i n g O p e r a t i o n s , a n d Protecting Infrastructure. The USCG Headquarters Office of Port and Facility Compliance is making great progress towards the Protecting Infrastructure strategic priority. Our progress relates to Area Maritime Security Committees (AMSC) Cyber Subcommittees and other government agency collaboration on informing cyber policy. The USCG encouraged establish- ing Cyber subcommittees to provide a specific community to promote Cyber Policy Happenings By LCDR Josephine Long, and LT Laura Gould, U.S. Coast Guard Note from Pete Lauridsen – As part of PVA’s effort to promote the serious issue of cybersecurity, I have given my space to U.S. Coast Guard officers, LCDR Long and LT Gould, to explain how cybersecurity impacts PVA members. Here is their article: cyber risk information sharing, and risk analysis. We encouraged specific membership that would promote these efforts, and help to establish cyber expertise within each port. Information sharing is one initiative of these sub- committees but represents a larger goal the USCG has for cyber risk manage- ment. We have worked to develop a community within Homeport to post relevant cyber policy updates, and any cyber alerts the USCG receives or generates. Our goal is for Homeport to be the main vehicle through which we can quickly disseminate cyber news to maritime industry members. Collaboration with other govern- ment agencies has also helped us to accomplish progress towards the Protecting Infrastructure strategic priority. We are very proud of our col-
