This fall, Enhydra, operated by Red and White Fleet of San Francisco, CA, has been named vessel of the year by both Professional Mariner and WorkBoat magazines. The 600-passenger aluminium hybrid-electric monohull is currently the largest lithium-ion powered vessel in North America built under U.S. Coast Guard Subchapter K certification. PVA Associate members were heavily involved in making of this state-of-the- art vessel that was specially designed for harbor tours of San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Built byAllAmerican Marine, Bellingham, WA, the vessel features a BAE Systems HybriDrive pro- pulsion system that includes a generator, propulsion power converter, house load power supply, and control System. Two Cummins QSL9 diesel engines are also part of the package. n
