A passenger/vehicle ferry, Tazlina carries up to 300 passengers and 55 vehicles. At 280 feet, this welded vessel is made for traversing the cold Alaskan waters. It is propelled by two Caterpillar’s EMD 12-710 T3 engines rated at 3000HP at 900RPM which allows for a top speed of 16.4 knots, and a cruising speed of 15.5 knots. Caterpillar generators are also employed on the ferry. UES provided the seating. This ferry is a product of the state’s Made in Alaska program.
