New Member Tools A committee working group led by Captain Bob Bijur, Island Queen Cruise, Miami, FL, has completed work on the PV A Safety Assessment Guide. Formerly the Safety Audit Guide, this checklist to assess the condition of key vessel areas such as stairways, decks, and doorways, as well as lifesaving and firefighting equipment, was the first chapter in the PVA Risk Management Manual. Captain Bijur, who is a member of the PVA Board of Directors, has created a fillable Adobe form that can be adapted to any operation. The completion of this project was the final part in revising the PV A Slips, Trips, and Falls Manual. The revised manual will be available to PVA members via the online Learning Management System portal for use by all members. Also, regarding the online training content, Captain Erik Bombard, Catalina Express, San Pedro, CA, and his group completed the review of all quiz questions associated with PVA manuals. They found a few questions that required updating and presented the group’s findings and recommended It is members like Captain McElroy and those that volunteer for committees and presentations that make this association the leader and voice of the domestic passenger vessel industry.
