At this meeting, Captain Ben Bernstein, BB Riverboats and Captain Earnesto Coleman, Hornblower Cruises & Events, were confirmed as Chair and Vice Chair of the committee, respec- tively. Captain Ben Bernstein began his career in 1995 in the food service op- erations of BB Riverboats in Cincinnati. Becoming proficient as a deckhand and in the navigational crew duties over his initial years, he chose to sit for his 100-ton Masters License to obtain a Captain’s license shortly after his 19th birthday. Upon comple- tion of his college degree in Business Management from the University of Kentucky in 2004, he moved into an executive role as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In 2012, he took over financial duties as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, which continues to be his present role. He made key contributions which helped BB Riverboats win the Roger Murphy National Maritime Safety Award in 2012. He currently holds a 1600-ton Master’s license and a 200-ton Master of Towing license. He joined the PVA Safety and Security Committee in 2015, and served as Vice Chair from 2017 to 2018.
