Navigating your Aon Risk Solutions Marine On August 9, Travel Oregon recog- nized the PVAGreen WATERS Program as one its “Recognized Programs in the Travel Oregon Forever Charter.” According to Andrew Grossman, Destination Development Coordinator at Travel Oregon, the entity “is a semi- independent agency created by the Oregon Legislature in 2003 to enhance Oregonians’ quality of life by strength- ening economic impacts of the state’s $10.8 billion tourism industry.” As part of it’s strategic plan, the agency supports and encourages sustainable tourism and environmental responsi- bility. The PVA Green WATERS Program was recognized by Travel Oregon Forever Charter for its emphasis on education and implementation of best green business practices in the passenger vessel industry in regards to sustainable tourism. Two PVAVessel members operating in Oregon are PVA Green WATERS participants. Portland, OR-based American Waterways/Portland Spirit operates dinner and sightseeing cruises and the American Queen Steamboat Company operates overnight river cruises in Oregon. To date, nearly 54 million people are passengers on the PVA Green Fleet, which comprises more than 200 vessels operating throughout in the U.S. n your interests and working toward the common good.
