MAY 2018 • FOGHORN 31 HOW PVA BENEFITS YOU Coast Guard and hear if other opera- tions are wondering the same thing as you are. These Industry Day meetings are also important to PVA as an asso- ciation representing passenger vessel industry operators as a whole. At these events, PVA staff has the opportunity to meet and interact with the local Coast Guard units, and gain a better understanding of the unique challeng- es facing the different port areas. It’s valuable for PVA to speak with Coast Guard, not only at the Headquarters level in Washington, DC, but to also gain insight on the local perspective. At each of the Industry Day meetings, PVA was invited by the Coast Guard to speak on the issues impacting passenger vessel operators. PVA appreciated this platform to engage operators and Coast Guard on a variety of topics. PVA highlighted the concerns around illegal operated boat charters, further fueled by the growth of boat-sharing websites. Focusing on outreach and education, PVA got the word out about illegal charters and thanked the Coast Guard for its strong enforcement actions over the past year, and encouraging the Coast Guard’s continued enforcement posture nation-wide. PVA thanks the Coast Guard for hosting Industry Days and urges the continuation of these valuable programs and events. PVA’s engage- ment with industry and Coast Guard partners at these events continues building critical working relationships and important dialogue on the issues that impact your business. PVA is working for you. n Jen Wilk (left) and Eric Christensen. 5 1 0 . 3 3 7 . 9 1 2 2 www.bay -ship.com A l a m e d a , C A Bay Ship and Yacht makes it a priority to per- form on-time, quality service for all vessels.
