Six of the successful applicants are PVA associate members, and they received approximately 24 percent of the $19.6 million that was distributed. This grant program enables small shipyards to undertake capital im- provements. PVA continues to advocate for generous funding for this very popular grant program. Congress is on the verge of appropriat- ing $20 million for this purpose for the upcoming fiscal year 2019. The PVA members receiving awards are: • Marine Group Boat Works, Chula Vista, CA. The grant will be used to help purchase of a CNC plasma table, 125-foot boom lift, and a 33,000-pound forklift. • C h e s a p e a k e S h i p b u i l d i n g Corporation, Salisbury, MD. It will use the funding to apply to the purchase of four extending boom forklifts, a mobile crane, and con- struction of larger mobile launching ways. Six PVA Shipyards Win Capital Grants • Front Street Shipyard, Belfast, ME. Funding will assist in the purchase of a water jet cutting machine. • Nichols Brother Boat Builders, Freeland, WA. The company will use the grant to help acquire a 250-ton lattice boom crawler crane. • Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, Sturgeon Bay, WI.
