Lindblad Orders Two New Overnight Vessels Lindblad Expeditions, Seattle, WA, signed an agreement with Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Freeland, WA, to build two vessels, each able to ac- commodate 100 guests on overnight cruises. The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2017, and the second will be completed in the second quarter of 2018. NEW SERVICE ROUTES Pirate Water Taxi Launched in Tampa Pirate Water Taxi, Tampa, FL, was launched by Troy Manthey, President/ CEO of Yacht StarShip last spring. Aimed at visitors to the area, three water taxis carry 40-50 passengers around the waterfront’s popular tourist destinations. Captains on Pirate Water Taxi dress in pirate attire and offer narrated tours about the city’s history and attractions. HMS Ferries Launches Pilot Ferry Project in Tampa Bay Region On November 1, HMS Ferries, Inc., Bainbridge Island, WA, launched the Cross Bay Ferry, a passenger-only, six-month ferry pilot project in the Tampa Bay, FL area. The collabora- tive project, between the cities of St. Petersburg, Tampa and two counties, is intended to demonstrate water transportation technology and service options to the residents and businesses of the Tampa Bay region. Provincetown IV, a twin-hull aluminum catamaran with a cruising speed of 29 knots and a capacity of 149 passengers, is owned by Bay State Cruises, Boston, MA, and will be leased to HMS Ferries for the project. n Seastreak
