It was also the year that noted author Jane Austen died and Henry David Thoreau, who would become a famous writer and natural- ist, was born. And, the Lake George Steamboat Company incorporated by the New York State Legislature was incorporated on April 15, 1817. It has been operating continuously since then and thus is celebrating 200 years of service with events and activities held throughout 2017. Nestled in the southeastern portion of the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York lies the popular tourist destination since the 1800s, Lake George, home of the Lake George Steamboat Company, Lake George, NY. The operation currently has a fleet of three vessels: the sternwheel steamboat Minni-Ha-Ha, the motor vessel Mohican II, and the cruise ship Lac du Saint Sacrement. Along with scenic sightseeing cruises, the Steamboat Company offers lunch, brunch, and dinner cruises, as well as fireworks cruises, a pirate cruise for children, and a moonlight cruise.
