The data was instrumental in convincing the Congress to modify the one-size-fits-all out-of-water survival craft law. It also was key to our comments on passenger weight, non-tank vessel response plan, automatic identification system (AIS) and others; and There has been a reduction in un- necessary CG 2692 report submissions. There are at least two more “im- provements” or changes to the in- vestigative program/mission. There is general agreement that the dollar thresholds for reporting casualties and serious marine incidents is out-of-date and requires substantial elevation to reflect the change in cost of repairs over the last three to four decades. There has also been a report prepared for the U.S. Congress that will indicate the Coast Guard’s reaction to two major assessments of the casualty reporting program. When that report to Congress becomes available, we should see the Coast Guard’s vision for further improvements or changes. In the opinion of the two reports, one the U.S. Department of Homeland Safety Inspector General and the other a chartered Coast Guard advisory panel, there is a fertile field for improvement. We will continue to bring Coast Guard representatives to PVA events and activities and seek opportunity for our participation in their industry days, schools and conferences. We have a chartered Quality Partnership and a mutually supportive relationship that ensures our expertise and experience is available for Coast Guard mission per- formance. n PVA WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS Camira Group Inc.
