They, after all, are distinctly different from one another. They, each in their own way, cherish those distinction and take pride in what makes them unique to a world just two miles away. During the past 50 years, the two communities we serve have, with varying degrees of success, sought to stimulate visitor and new resident demand. They have each formed chambers of commerce, and created modest advertising and promotional programs underwritten by compara- tively small budgets. They have each set about to celebrate their destination with a focus, quite naturally, on who they are and what they are made of. During those same years, we as ferry line operators, have seen changes in the travelling public. Individuals, families and couples young and old are The ferries, which carry cars and passengers, are a vital link between two destinations.
