Classic Harbor Line New York City
For those of us fortunate enough to be in New York City during Sail250 and America’s 250th anniversary celebration in New York Harbor, it was a truly once-in-a-generation experience. Watching tall ships and naval vessels from around the world sail together against the backdrop of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan was unforgettable, but what made the event truly remarkable was everything and everyone behind the scenes.
Months of planning by the Sail4th 250 team, coordination among local, state, and federal agencies, and the dedication of captains, crews, chefs, guides, dock staff, and maritime professionals came together to create an experience that folks will remember for a lifetime. Every departure, every dockside welcome, and every vessel on the water reflected the professionalism and passion of our industry.
Classic Harbor Line was honored to be part of the celebration, with our classic fleet welcoming thousands of guests throughout the festivities. On July 4, our General Manager, Captain Cait Field, had the privilege of captaining Schooner Adirondack during the Tall Ships Parade.
“I’ve spent countless days on New York Harbor, but I’ve never seen anything like it,” Field reflected. “Seeing the fleet under sail alongside naval vessels, with every captain and crew working together was incredibly moving. Everyone on the water looked amazing, and it was a privilege to play a role in such a historic moment.”
America250 reminded us that while the ships were extraordinary, it was the people behind them who made the celebration so memorable.
The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company
The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company participated in Sail4th 250, the spectacular maritime celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
Despite already sweltering temperatures at 6 a.m. on July 4, more than 450 guests boarded the M/V Long Island at GMD Shipyard for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to a well-coordinated boarding operation orchestrated with our grounds crew, shuttle vans, a golf cart, and the generous support of the shipyard, all passengers were safely aboard within an hour.
At 7:30 a.m., Captains Mark Soderstrom and Paul Petersen guided the vessel to the parade staging area south of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, where the M/V Long Island proudly took its place as the final vessel in the Parade of Ships. Dressed up for the occasion, the ferry sailed past the Statue of Liberty and up the North River, offering guests spectacular views of the historic procession.
Throughout the voyage, our in-house DJ filled the decks with patriotic music while guests toured the 1,000-passenger, 100-vehicle ferry and celebrated America’s rich maritime heritage.
Behind the scenes, the professionalism of the vessel’s captains, officers, engineers, deckhands, and shoreside staff ensured a safe and memorable day. For the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, participating in Sail4th 250 was an honor and a fitting tribute to more than 140 years of connecting communities across Long Island Sound. It was truly a day that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Rhode Island Fast Ferry
At Rhode Island Fast Ferry our crew embraced the patriotic spirit of America 250 with outfits that let guests know, “We want you!” to join the celebration. Passengers were treated spectacular views of the Newport fireworks display in Narragansett Bay, R.I., and appreciated the festive atmosphere and enthusiasm that the crew brought to the cruise.
Savannah Riverboat Cruises
Savannah Riverboat Cruises celebrated the nation’s milestone with a full day of patriotic experiences on the Savannah River, highlighted by the debut of our first ever Dockside Dinner aboard the Georgia Queen. Guests enjoyed a Southern buffet, live entertainment, and waterfront views while the vessel remained docked along historic River Street, creating a relaxed and uniquely Savannah dining experience.
Following dinner, guests disembarked and stepped directly onto River Street to enjoy what many consider the best seats in Savannah for the city’s fireworks display over the river. The evening offered the perfect combination of dining, Southern hospitality, and front-row views of one of the city’s most anticipated annual traditions.
Throughout the day, the Georgia Queen welcomed visitors and locals alike with patriotic décor, live music, and unforgettable views of Savannah’s historic waterfront. Celebrating America’s 250th anniversary in one of the nation’s most historic cities made the occasion especially meaningful. As generations gathered along the river to watch the fireworks, the evening served as a reminder of Savannah’s enduring maritime heritage and the traditions that continue to bring our community and visitors together year after year.

Block Island Ferry
This year, the Fourth of July was especially vibrant as the nation marked its 250th anniversary. Coincidentally, this semiquincentennial aligned with our M/V Anna C’s 40th anniversary, making the celebration even more special for our family-run ferry business servicing mainland Rhode Island to Block Island since 1933.
To honor these milestones, we offered our famous Bloody Mary in a custom-designed commemorative cup. Each year, the cup design changes, turning it into a collectible souvenir. The iconic drink is enjoyed on all our ferries by locals and tourist alike, some who claim the recipe is the “best on the Block!”
Our concession staff got into the spirit of the day, proudly sporting celebratory tee shirts marking the nation’s anniversary featuring the M/V Anna C. The festive uniforms boosted the cheerful atmosphere and created a sense of pride and camaraderie among our crew.

Naples Princess
Guests celebrated Independence Day aboard the Naples Princess for an unforgettable evening on the water as part of a charity event benefiting a local education center. The experience featured sunset views along Southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast, dinner, and front-row seats to a fireworks display illuminating the night sky. The event brought the community together for a memorable holiday celebration of America’s 250th anniversary while raising crucial support for the education center. It was an evening of patriotism, philanthropy, and unforgettable memories, demonstrating how a special celebration can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.
Maid of the Mist
Maid of the Mist was proud to celebrate two historic milestones—our 141st season and the nation’s 250th birthday—by welcoming thousands of visitors to Niagara Falls over the Fourth of July holiday. Guests from across the country and around the world experienced our iconic voyage aboard our vessels while enjoying the destination’s patriotic atmosphere.
Throughout the holiday weekend, families and friends gathered to celebrate Independence Day while taking in views of Niagara Falls aboard Maid of the Mist. To mark the occasion, Maid of the Mist provided commemorative red, white, and blue ponchos, adding to the patriotic spirit as guests journeyed into the mist aboard the nation’s first all-electric passenger vessels. From the excitement of boarding to the unforgettable voyage to the base of Niagara Falls, visitors created lasting memories during this historic celebration.
This special holiday was also part of Maid of the Mist’s season-long celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Throughout our season, guests will experience patriotic touches and commemorative moments as we honor our nation’s history while showcasing the future of sustainable tourism through our all-electric fleet.

Pontoon Saloon
To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Pontoon Saloon welcomed guests aboard for an exclusive Fourth of July experience. In coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies, guests experienced a front-row view of Nashville’s fireworks display from the fireworks zone
Guests enjoyed a three-hour patriotic cruise featuring festive décor, an open bar, light appetizers from a local catering partner, and views of the Nashville skyline. Departing from our private marina with complimentary parking, guests could avoid downtown traffic for a relaxed and memorable evening on the Cumberland River.
The celebration was made possible through months of planning and close collaboration with local officials to ensure a safe and seamless operation during one of Nashville’s largest annual events. Our crew took great pride in delivering an unforgettable experience while showcasing the professionalism and hospitality of the passenger vessel industry.

Arnold Transit Company
For Arnold Transit Company, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary was about more than watching fireworks—it was about celebrating tradition, history, and the timeless connection between people and the water.
To mark the occasion, Arnold hosted two sold-out fireworks cruises in the Straits of Mackinac, offering passengers unforgettable views from the water with the iconic Mackinac Bridge serving as the backdrop.
Departing from Mackinaw City, guests boarded the historic Straits of Mackinac II, one of Arnold’s classic vessels that has carried generations of passengers between Mackinac Island and the mainland. With open-air decks and a slower-paced journey, passengers enjoyed a nostalgic experience aboard a vessel that represents the rich history of passenger ferry service in the Great Lakes.
The celebration was especially meaningful as the Straits of Mackinac II had recently returned to service following a major investment including new John Deere marine engines, updated vessel controls, a refreshed exterior, and a restored pilothouse completed by one of Arnold’s own talented captains—preserving the character of the vessel while preparing her for future generations.
On Mackinac Island, guests celebrated aboard one of Arnold’s traditional fast ferries, taking in the fireworks surrounded by the beauty of the Straits and one of America’s most iconic island destinations.
As America celebrated 250 years, Arnold was proud to continue doing what it has done since 1878—bringing people together on the water.
