The third Annual National Port Partner Emergency Response Summit, which took place on Nov. 12-13 in San Diego, Calif., was attended by both PVA staff and several PVA vessel members from both large and small operations. The event was run by the Port of Virginia in partnership with the Port of San Diego, focusing on unified preparedness and response.
The two-day summit brought together public- and private-sector leaders from throughout the maritime industry with the goal of collaboration, innovation, and preparing teams for all possible hazards. Topics covered ranged from electrification of port infrastructure and emergency response to mental health within the industry, as well as discussions on grant planning, autonomous systems in maritime security, and improving partner communication. Through each session, presentations and panels shared information and sparked dialogue to strengthen the industry and improve maritime resilience.
