Nominate your crew by Nov. 30 for the PVA Safety Awards for lifesaving actions or implementing safety practices that have strengthened the passenger vessel industry.
Created by the PVA Safety and Security Committee and sponsored by the Passenger Vessel Foundation, the awards are presented annually to recipients who demonstrated extraordinary actions that resulted in a safer marine transportation system.
Captain Elizabeth Gedney Passenger Vessel Safety Award
Honoring Captain Elizabeth “Beth” Gedney, PVA’s former director of safety, security and risk management, this award recognizes actions by PVA vessel members and their employees for actions taken in response to an emergency that resulted in a substantial, possibly lifesaving, impact (i.e. man overboard).
The timeframe for this award is Dec. 1, 2024, to Nov. 30, 2025.
Roger Murphy National Marine Safety Award
Named in honor of PVA Past President Roger Murphy, the founder of the PVA Safety and Security Committee, this award is given annually to a PVA member employee in recognition for enhancing, or contributing to the overall safety of their organization and the passenger vessel industry.
The timeframe for this award can span over several years of accomplishment.
Nominations are due by Nov. 30.
The PVA Safety and Security Committee will select winners, and awards will be presented at the PVA Annual Convention at MariTrends 2026.
