JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2019 • FOGHORN 43 FOGHORNMAGAZINE.COM In his column on page five of this issue, PVA Executive Director John Groundwater wrote, “2018 was a banner year in terms of industry expansion and health.” He noted that while the passenger vessel industry continues to grow, the Passenger Vessel Association is expanding as well with an additional staff member and an increase in mem- bership. That growth is visible in other ways. If you think this issue of FOGHORN is heavier than the ones you’ve picked up in the past, you’d be correct. This hefty edition is the largest one produced by PVA and contains more articles and advertis- ing than ever. Reporting on a booming industry means publishing a national trade magazine that is bigger with robust editorial to capture the essence of the passenger vessel industry. “FOGHORN needs to keep pace with the fast-growing commercial maritime industry that is the passenger vessel industry,” said FOGHORN Managing Editor Karen Rainbolt. “As vessel operations are flourishing, so too is FOGHORN.” Covering this market segment takes effort and timely, relevant information. This means that vessel operators should provide FOGHORN with press releases on new vessels and routes, personnel announce- ments, man overboard and other water rescues, safety and security exercises, and ideas for articles to cover in the magazine. Large, high- resolution photos of operation and vessels are always welcome. “Being a membership pub- lication, FOGHORN truly is about PVA members, for PVA members, and, whenever possible, by FOGHORN members,” Rainbolt said. “PVA is your association, and FOGHORN is your voice.” To contribute to FOGHORN’s editorial and photo- graphic archives, contact Karen Rainbolt at krainbolt@ passengervessel.com, or call 571-388-7752.
